Get an RV Insurance QuoteYour personal auto policy won't adequately cover your RV. A standard auto policy may cover liability while driving a motorhome, but it won't cover the living space, attached equipment, contents, or the unique risks that come with full-time or seasonal RV use. A dedicated RV policy is built for how you actually use your rig.
Coverage options and pricing vary significantly by RV type. Class A motorhomes, Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, pop-up campers, and toy haulers all have different profiles. We can quote coverage for any of these.
Michigan's travel season typically runs May through October for seasonal campers, though many Michigan campgrounds see traffic year-round. Whether you use your RV for weekend trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes, extended Great Lakes trips, or full-time living, we match your coverage to how you actually use it.
Serving Michigan RV owners statewide. From Traverse City and Petoskey to the Upper Peninsula, the Thumb, and the Lake Michigan shoreline — Clutch Risk is a Michigan independent insurance agency. Agency NPN: 22231445 · Michigan System ID: 0161332.
Your auto policy covers liability while towing your travel trailer, but it does not cover physical damage to the trailer itself. A separate RV or travel trailer policy covers the trailer's structure, contents, and additional liability when it's parked and in use as a campsite.
Full-timer coverage is designed for people who live in their RV as their primary residence. It includes enhanced personal liability, loss of use, and personal property coverage that standard RV policies don't provide. If you spend more than 6 months per year in your RV, full-timer coverage is worth considering.
Agreed value is almost always better for RVs, especially new or late-model units. RVs depreciate quickly — an ACV payout after a total loss can be far less than the cost of replacing your rig. Agreed value locks in the payout amount at policy start, with no depreciation deducted at claim time.
Most RV policies include a personal effects limit for belongings kept in the RV. If you carry high-value electronics, specialty equipment, or a significant amount of camping gear, you may want to increase this limit or schedule specific items. Awnings, satellite dishes, and solar equipment can often be covered as well.
Coverage for rented RVs varies by carrier and policy. Some personal RV policies extend to occasional rental use; others don't. If you rent RVs frequently, there are specific policies and endorsements designed for that use case. Let us know how you plan to use it and we'll find the right fit.
